Happy Monday! Colten here.
This week has a lot of great stuff going on. One thing to keep in mind is the weather turns chilly mid week, but most of the week looks dry. Anywho, let's jump into it.

Two free landfill passes at City Hall
If you still have more to haul after the dumpsters close, every Eagle Mountain household can pick up two free landfill passes per year at City Hall (1650 E Stagecoach Run) that are good to use at the Intermountain Regional Landfill in Fairfield. Each pass covers up to about 6 cubic yards and 500 lbs.

CIVIC HIGHLIGHTS

City Council meeting — Tuesday, April 21
Work Session at 4 PM, Policy Session at 7 PM. Full agenda at the link. A few items worth knowing about:
Perry Homes is previewing a new 850-unit subdivision. The discussion point for the City Council is a request to drop a planned trail and park strip from one side of Red Pine Road and Hidden Valley Parkway. The density is actually lower than what's currently approved for the site, but the tradeoff is the loss of a walking path and landscaped buffer along a main neighborhood road. Work session only, no vote. Public comment runs during the 7 PM Policy Session.
Fencing ordinance vote
A resident-initiated amendment to city code comes back for a final vote Tuesday. If approved, it would add pre-weathered weathering steel (the rusted-look Corten style) as an approved material for residential perimeter fencing. The item was tabled on March 3 for updates, and a public hearing has already been held.
Also on the agenda
A resolution to award an $8.29 million bid for equipment for the wastewater treatment plant expansion. This is the first major piece of that project moving forward.
A public hearing on stricter rules for screening outdoor AC units on apartments and townhomes.
A public hearing on a resident's request to buy a small section of a city-owned trail corridor in Meadow Ranch.
A work session discussion on the Brandon Park Rezone, a cleanup of older zoning designations on roughly 216 acres. This is the same item we previewed from the April 14 Planning Commission meeting. Discussion only.
Eagle Mountain Academy graduation
The Spring 2026 Academy cohort will be recognized at the start of the 7 PM Policy Session on Tuesday. I was part of this class, and I'm biased, but I got a lot out of it. You sit with other neighbors, you meet the people who actually run the city, and you walk away realizing how much the staff care about doing the job well. It made me trust city hall more and feel comfortable reaching out with a concern or question. Worth it. If you're curious, watch for the next session and sign up.
Local resources for neighbors in need
Rockwell Charter High School's community teen center was featured on KSL TV this month. The center runs a food and hygiene pantry, showers and laundry, and a study space open to community members after school hours.
This story inspired me to put together a resource page on the Eagle Mountain Value site with links and descriptions for the groups in and around Eagle Mountain that help people when things get hard. If you know of a charitable organization, food pantry, clothing closet, emergency assistance program, or similar that's serving our community, I'd love to hear about it. Reply to this email and let me know.

Parks and Rec registration

Utah Avalanche Rec Soccer registration is open for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027, with games played at Frontier Middle School. This isn't the typical show-up-and-play rec program. Utah Avalanche invests in training and supporting their coaches, offers summer training to players, and is built around actually helping kids develop, whether they're brand new to soccer or already love the game. They've been running rec soccer in Utah for over 50 years. Registration is $130 and includes a full uniform, soccer ball, summer training, team picture, end-of-season medal, and a family fun night with the RSL mascot. Open to ages 2 through 18, with ages 2–3 and junior high and high school offered co-ed. 8 games in the fall and 8 in the spring. Register here.
Also open or opening this week through Eagle Mountain City Parks and Rec:
Fall Soccer opens for registration today, Monday 4/20, and runs through June 14. Pre-K through 9th grade. Games begin August 15 at Cory Wride Park.
Street Hockey clinics with the Utah Mammoth. The 6th–8th grade May session (May 6, 13, 20) closes May 1. The June session (June 3, 10, 17) closes May 25. $30 per session, includes a shirt, stick, ball, and two Utah Mammoth tickets. 3rd–5th grade is full for both sessions.
Summer Youth Pickleball (ages 8–15) is open through May 31. $25 per player. Season runs June 4 through July.
Snapology summer camps at the City Council Chambers run four themed weeks in June and July: Mario and Friends, Minecraft, Combat Robots, and Robotics.
Well, that's it for today's Valueletter. If you've got a question or some feedback, feel free to hit reply or send an email to [email protected]. Thank you!
