CIVIC HIGHLIGHTS
Lowe's and Smith's Marketplace get the green light
The City Council approved the Eagle's Landing development agreement, bringing a Smith's Marketplace, Lowe's Home Improvement, four additional retailers, and several smaller retail spaces to the 53-acre parcel north of Mid Valley Road near Pony Express Parkway.
As we covered Monday, this item was tabled at the March 3 meeting. Tuesday, it came back for a vote and passed. The agreement includes infrastructure tax incentives that help offset the upfront road and utility costs needed to make the site viable.
Here's what this means for residents: more shopping options within city limits. Right now, most major retail trips take Eagle Mountain families out to Saratoga Springs, Lehi, or further. A Smith's Marketplace and Lowe's in town changes that math for groceries, home improvement, and everyday errands. There's no construction timeline yet, but we'll keep you updated as it moves forward.

Lane reductions on Pony Express Parkway
Starting today, lanes are being reduced on Pony Express Parkway during active construction. If you commute through this corridor, especially from The Ranches and surrounding neighborhoods, plan for extra time.
SR-73 is an alternative if traffic backs up significantly, though it adds distance depending on where you're headed. The city hasn't published a specific end date, so this is one to keep an eye on.

Youth soccer: Council moves toward RFP
Also on Tuesday, the Council heard a presentation from Jason Hall on what it would look like for Eagle Mountain to bring youth soccer in-house after the city's partnership with Utah Youth Soccer expires this spring. As we covered Monday, the idea is to lower registration fees and bring more families back to local fields.
After discussion, the Council decided to issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) so they can review outside options before making a final call. No decision has been made yet. The RFP goes out March 26 with responses due April 14.
This one is generating conversation. Some residents have shared concerns about the city managing the program directly. If you have concerns, then make sure you let the city know directly. Submit your comments through the Public Comment Form here, or email the city directly at [email protected].
