CIVIC HIGHLIGHTS

The Planning Commission meets Tuesday and the City Council holds a Special Session Wednesday. Here's what's on the agenda.

Youth soccer fees could get cheaper

The city's partnership with Utah Youth Soccer expires after this spring. The Council will discuss Wednesday whether to bring youth soccer in-house or issue a new contract.

Going in-house could mean lower registration fees for families. Right now, hundreds of Eagle Mountain residents leave the city to play elsewhere. Lower fees and better fields are designed to bring them back.

Competitive club leagues would still rent local field space.

Staff is asking for Council direction Wednesday night. If they go the contract route, the Request For Proposal (RFP) goes out March 26 with responses due April 14.

What you can do: Attend the Special City Council Session on Wednesday, March 25 at 7:00 PM at 1650 E Stagecoach Run and share your opinions. You can also follow this link to submit a public comment. View the full agenda here.

Smith's Marketplace and Lowe's update

The Council will revisit the 5th Amendment to the Overland Master Development Agreement on Wednesday. A 53-acre parcel north of Mid Valley Road has been sold to a commercial developer working directly with Kroger.

As a reminder, the center would include a Smith's Marketplace, a Lowe's, four additional retailers, and several smaller retail spaces. The agreement includes infrastructure tax incentives to make the project viable. Without them, the upfront road and utility costs would likely stall the project.

This item was tabled on March 3. It returns Wednesday.

What you can do: Review the agenda and attend the Policy Session at 7:00 PM on March 25. Feel free to make a public comment during the public portion of the meeting, or share your opinion via this link. You can also view the agenda here.

Also this week at city hall

Planning Commission Tuesday. Two items on the agenda: 1) A public hearing on a code change that would require better screening of outdoor AC units on future apartment buildings. This is a public hearing, so residents can weigh in. 2) A "Health in All Policies" training on how the way the city zones and builds affects resident health. Work Session at 5:30 PM, Policy Session at 6:30 PM, Tuesday 3/24 at 1650 E Stagecoach Run. View the agenda here.

Gateway Park. Scot Hazard presents the long-range land-use plan during Wednesday's City Council work session at 4:00 PM. Early-stage, but this is where open space priorities take shape.

QTS construction hours. The Council may vote Wednesday on extended construction hours at the QTS site. Residents near the corridor should review the agenda.

Hidden Hollow. On Wednesday's consent agenda: a "value-in-kind" agreement with Cadence Homes for enhanced park features and trails in the Hidden Hollow development.

Eagle Mountain Academy. Free session on how the city works. Wednesday 3/25, 6:30-8:30 PM. This week's session will most likely meet at the Public Works Building (2565 N Pony Express Pkwy), but reach out to the city to confirm. Details here.

Budget preview. A preliminary FY 2026-2027 outlook will be discussed during the Council's 4:00 PM work session Wednesday.
