Happy Monday Eagle Mountain. Colten here.
My wife and kids went to American Fork Beach last weekend and had a blast. Parking was only $5. My wife took the photo above, so I had to show it off. This breaks from my tradition of posting only Eagle Mountain images, but this one was too pretty to pass up.

AT CITY HALL

Your chance to weigh in on the property tax proposal is tomorrow night
The Eagle Mountain City Council holds a public hearing on the proposed property tax increase tomorrow, Tuesday, June 16 at 7 PM. This is your opportunity to comment before the Council adopts the interim budget.
What the proposed increase would mean:
The city currently collects $2.84 million in property tax revenue each year
The proposed budget would raise that to $9.8 million — an increase of $6.96 million, or about 218%
For a home valued at $500,000, that works out to roughly $320.58 more per year, or about $26.72 per month
The city says the additional revenue would fund essential public safety operations, including the Utah County Sheriff's Office contract and adding deputies as Eagle Mountain grows
One note on the numbers: they are based on preliminary Utah County valuation data. A recent change in state law delayed the final rate certification, so the figures may be updated when Mayor Gray reads the Property Tax Impact Schedule at Tuesday's meeting.
If you can’t make it in person, submit written comments anytime using the public comment form. The city's Truth-in-Taxation page has full background.
Tuesday's hearing is the first of three steps. The Truth-in-Taxation hearing follows on August 6 at 6 PM, and the final budget vote is August 18.
The Redevelopment Agency Board also meets Tuesday at 8 PM
After the Council session, the City Council members sit as the RDA Board to adopt a $26.5 million budget for the coming fiscal year. The RDA is funded by tax increment from major employers like Meta, Tyson Foods, and QTS Data Centers, and most of that money flows back to those companies through existing agreements. A small portion goes to affordable housing and city administrative costs.
This is a separate process from the property tax increase discussed above. If you'd like a fuller explainer on how the RDA works and what it means for Eagle Mountain residents, reply to this email or write to [email protected].
See the agenda here.
Also on Tuesday's agenda
Residents have until approximately June 19 to submit written comments on the Area 7 Annexation, Eagle Mountain's proposed boundary expansion toward Utah Lake. Send comments to [email protected] before that deadline.
The Senior Housing Overlay Zone, a new zoning category for 55-plus housing, moves to the City Council after the Planning Commission recommended approval. No action needed from residents yet.
The Council will discuss a traffic study recommending a new road connection between Silverlake Parkway and Saratoga Springs, including a traffic signal at Silverlake Parkway and Golden Eagle Road and pedestrian improvements near Silver Lake Elementary. Tuesday's presentation is for discussion only. No vote will be taken.
The Council is expected to approve a $56,500 contract with MHTN Architects to study what a new or expanded City Hall and Library could look like, building on the Downtown Master Plan. The study should take about three months.

EAGLE MOUNTAIN PARKS — COMMUNITY APP
Eagle Mountain Community Services Board member Jessie Southworth has built Eagle Mountain Parks, an independent community app that lets residents drop pins, suggest trail connections, and share park improvement ideas on a shared map. Others can upvote submissions, leave comments, and track where ideas are in the review process. It is not an official city app, but it was built by a neighbor who wanted to make resident feedback about parks and trails more visible and useful. Worth a look.

LOCAL SPOTLIGHT
Doris' Dough Co — Small-Batch Sourdough, Made in Eagle Mountain
I met Doris' Dough Co at the Farmers Market earlier this month and have been thinking about their sourdough ever since. The bakery is named after Grandma Doris, whose kitchen was the kind of place that made baking feel like home. It is run by the Kneady Girls and Ian, an Eagle Mountain family baking in small batches from scratch with ingredients they feel good about. They make sourdough loaves, soft sandwich bread, English muffins, focaccia, cakes, and cookies, plus seasonal items that rotate with whatever they are excited about. Each month brings a new sourdough flavor and a new macaroon flavor. They had already sold out of most of their baked goods by the time I stopped by, which tells you something.
You can find them this Saturday at the Eagle Mountain Farmers Market at Cory Wride Memorial Park, 9 AM to 1 PM. For first dibs before they sell out, order through Hotplate and follow along on Instagram at @dorisdoughco.
